Climate Impacts Research Associate

Michelle Young is a Climate Impacts Research Associate at Climate Central, working to establish scientifically sound connections between climate change and its impacts on natural environments and human systems. Prior to joining Climate Central, she worked as Metocean Analyst based in Bourne, MA where she analyzed real-time oceanographic data and numerical model output to provide current nowcasts, forecasts and advisory reports. She has also worked on several research projects throughout her academic career, assessing relationships between climate change impacts and weather patterns, along with quantifying climate change impacts on energy infrastructure in South Africa. She also worked closely with South Coast Hospice in Port Shepstone, South Africa on a renewable energy project to install solar panels and identify techniques to mitigate weather and climate related impacts on their operations. Michelle is presently working toward a M.S. in Geosciences with Specialization in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State University and holds a B.S. in Meteorology form the University of Oklahoma.
