UNDERWRITING & PRICING

Understand and price flood risk building by building

The private flood insurance market has expanded quickly while uptake stays low. Climate Central supplies the physical inputs to a flood pricing: entry floor elevation, coastal terrain, and historical loss record. Useful for primary carriers, MGAs, specialty and E&S flood writers, and reinsurers.

ProblemSolution

Price the building, not the zone.

Compliance not assessment

FEMA built the flood zone for compliance. A zone marks a boundary on a map and it does not say anything about the building that’s on the ground.

Same zone, different terrain

Every area in a flood zone is treated as equal, even though the bare-earth height is not uniform across the zone.

Same zone, different thresholds

The building-entry floor height is not a uniform height across the zone and should not be treated as such.
