Danielle Bowes

Chief Development Officer

Danielle Bowes is a senior fundraising executive with more than fifteen years of experience leading development across higher education, mission-driven nonprofits, and public policy organizations. She specializes in building and scaling effective fundraising programs that secure high-level support and drive sustainable institutional growth.

Before joining Climate Central in 2026, Danielle served as Chief Development Officer of American University’s School of Education, where she led fundraising for the university’s newest independent school, culminating in a historic eight-figure naming gift. Previously, she directed national fundraising for the Fairness Project’s multi-state ballot measure campaigns and served as Associate Director of Development at the Brookings Institution, managing major individual and corporate giving programs across four major markets.

Originally from New Jersey, Danielle holds a BA in International Studies with a focus on international monetary policy from American University. An avid traveler who has lived in nine cities across three countries, she has called Washington, D.C. home since 2017.
