Placky Talks Glacial Melt and Climate on GMA

Program Summary

Our chief meteorologist, Bernadette Woods Placky, sat down with Good Morning America on the heels of the program's “Into the Ice” special on climate change and glacial melt.

Placky took Twitter and video questions about melting glaciers, global temperatures, and energy use. She explained that the more we emit greenhouses gases into the atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels, the more “the ice will melt, because temperatures are going up, and the whole Earth, all of the water, continues to warm.”

One Twitter user asked if glaciers are growing in other parts of the world. Her response? “They're melting. They're melting and retreating.”
