The boat was once anchored in water but the Morse Reservoir in Indiana, where it is docked, is now dry. Indianapolis typically gets its water from the Morse Reservoir but the drought conditions in Indiana have parched the water source. The drought currently putting 63 percent of the U.S. in moderate-to-exceptional drought conditions is the most extensive drought since 1956, according to the Telegraph and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The unusually warm early summer that spanned the U.S. this year is making the drought, a natural event, much more prolonged and severe.
