In 2009, Wendy and her husband Eric created the Schmidt Transformative Technology Fund at Princeton University, to be used to support cutting edge research and technology in the natural sciences and engineering, encouraging collaboration across disciplines. Also in 2009, they established The Schmidt Marine Science Research Institute to provide opportunities for conducting ocean and marine life studies at sea, aboard modern research vessels, documenting the planetary shifts occurring with climate change.
