Marcia Shackelford is Vice President for Development, the strategic leader of Climate Central’s fundraising initiatives. Before joining Climate Central in 2017, she was principal of a fundraising consulting firm in Princeton, N.J., serving nonprofit organizations.
Previously, Shackelford worked at the University of California, Los Angeles for 11 years. As the chief development officer for the UCLA Health System, she oversaw fundraising and board relations for the research and clinical efforts of three hospitals and served on the Health Sciences senior team preparing for a $2.2 billion campaign. Before that, she served as Associate Dean for Development at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where she was responsible for planning and implementing a four-year $100,000,000 campaign which exceeded its goal. There, she was the lead gift officer in securing the largest donation in the school’s history, and well as naming gifts creating a center for finance and a center for technology management.
Earlier in her career, Shackelford worked for the United Way and the University of California, San Francisco. She majored in American Studies at Dickinson College before earning an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
