John Moragne


John Moragne is co-founder and Managing Director of Sunstone Partners, a firm formed in 2015 to invest in and acquire growth stage technology companies. Sunstone spun out of Trident Capital, a multi-stage venture capital firm John co-founded in 1993,  which invested in over 180 portfolio companies in seven funds. Early in his career John helped create one of the first global internet brands, Mapquest, and has led investments in Internet, Healthcare IT and Enterprise Saas/Services such as Homeaway, Resolution Health and Datatel.

Prior to founding Trident Capital, John was an investor at Bain Capital and its related fund, Information Partners. He has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies including current positions at Jobvite, Turn, Sojern, Ninth Decimal and Outmatch. John serves as Chairman of the Stanford School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences Advisory Board. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College, an MA in Applied Earth Sciences from Stanford, and an MBA from the Stanford GSB.
