Proposed Carbon Capture and Sequestration in Linden, NJ

The carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project proposed for Linden, New Jersey will use a process called gasification to convert coal into hydrogen. The process produces a byproduct stream of pure CO2 that will captured, compressed into liquid form and sent via a 140 mile pipe to a spot on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean where it will be injected about 8000 feet below the sea bed into a geological formation for long-term storage.
