Fall Precipitation Trends

Fall precipitation has changed since the early 1970s, but unlike fall temperature trends, the changes form more of a patchwork story. The Atlantic coast and the Ohio River Valley have gotten wetter, while it’s been drier for many areas to the West – although the extreme Pacific Northwest is a notable exception. The trend toward increased precipitation in the Northeast is especially strong, and goes all the way back to the early 1900s, according to a NOAA report (pg 21).
