A dead fish in the drought-stricken La Sorrueda reservoir on Spain’s Canary island of Gran Canaria. According to a study in the journal Nature Climate Change, extreme weather events have increased over the past decade and have had a devastating impact all over the globe. With a growing population and man-induced global warming, water resources are being affected dramatically. Freshwater around the world is stressed, and climate change is the great exacerbation, says Heidi Cullen of Climate Central.
