Repost This

An elephant seal lounges on a beach in Monterey Bay, Calif. The seal and the shore bird live in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is one of only 13 marine sanctuaries in the U.S. Climate change is already impacting oceans across the world, rising sea levels, acidifying waters, and increasing ocean temperatures. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration notes that with theses effects, marine protected areas like the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary will be crucial for maintaining oceanic ecosystems.
