Image of the Day: Room with a View on the Maldives

Repost This

There's a plan for a new floating hotel in the Maldives, from the Netherlands-based company Waterstudio.NL, which works to find architectural solutions to the growing problems of climate change and urbanization.

The Maldives is the lowest country on the planet with its highest points a mere 5 feet above sea level. National Geographic called it “ground zero for climate change impacts” because of its extreme susceptibility to sea level rise. The nation by no means ignores this threat. In its story about the upcoming floating hotel, Earth Techling recalled how the Maldives cabinet had a meeting underwater to call attention to its vulnerability to climate change. And now it is building the Greenstar Hotel, ready to welcome climate change conferences.
