Ethiopian farmers, together with scientists from the crop research centers Icrisat and Eiar, have been testing a new pest-resistant variety of chickpea that is capable of growing in their arid, drought-persistant land. In an ever-warming world, the creation of such crops will be critical to help feed the growing population of the developing world, and in Ethiopia, the new crops have already delivered a dramatic increase to yields in the region.
